Homework: 
  • Prepare for your Book Talk (If you don't remember when you're presenting, check the sign up sheet in the classroom!)

  • Turn in your Christmas Carol packet! 
  • Book Talks!
  • Escape Room
    • Work with one partner! One laptop per partner group
    • Link to Escape Room
    • Use the notes worksheet to keep track of codes.
    • For lock #4, you can use Google Earth or Google Maps street view.
    • For lock #6, use this form instead of the one in the escape room:
    • Show Mrs. Weber when you have solved all 6 locks! This is how I know to give you credit for completing the assignment!
    • If you do not finish in class today, we will continue to work on this tomorrow! Keep your notes in a safe place or give to Mrs. Weber for safekeeping!

  • Finish Comprehension Questions for Scenes 5 & 6 (packets due Monday)

  • Read and prepare for your Book Talk (check the sign-up sheet in the classroom if you forgot when you're presenting!)
  • Kindness Challenge (16 Acts of Kindness due one week from today)
  • Vocabulary Choice Responses (12 due Monday)

Agenda:
  • Find your script and get out your Christmas Carol packet!
  • Book Talks!​
    • If you did not present your Book Talk on your assigned day, it is in the gradebook as 0 until you reschedule with Mrs. Weber!
  • Reading the Play ​
    • Follow along in your script as we (finish Scene 4 and) act out scenes 5 & 6
    • Mrs. Weber will read the narration (italics)
    • Look out for your entrances (be sure you’re on “stage” in time)
    • Audience’s job is to listen and follow along, otherwise we will read the play independently (no fun)
  • Comprehension Questions
    • ​Turn your packet to the last comprehension questions page (Scene 5 & Scene 6).
    • Choose one question from each section to answer on the following page.
    • Reread passages from the text  to help you form your answers, and find quotes to support answers!
  • Clean Up!
    1. ​​Fill out your exit ticket.
    2. Place your scripts back in the front of the room.
    3. Make sure desks line up with the tape marks on the floor!
    4. Clean up any trash around your desk.
    5. Stand behind your desk with your chair pushed in; Mrs. Weber will collect your exit ticket & dismiss you!

  • Grading Update:
    • Grammar Quizzes are in the gradebook and will be returned shortly.
    • Realistic Fiction Stories will go into the trimester 2 gradebook!
  • Book Talks!
  • Play Preparation - We start reading tomorrow!
    • Find your lines in the play packet. If they have not already been marked, highlight your lines!
    • Read through your lines.
    • Read through the stage directions around your lines (in italics).
    • How should you move as you read your lines? When do you enter a scene? What props do you need?
  • Independent Work Time 
    • Continue preparing to read the play if you need more time
    • Prepare or practice your Book Talk

    • What might be some expectations for book talks?
    • How should we (the audience) behave when someone is presenting?
  • Symbolism Notes
    • Color in and complete the notes as we talk about symbols
    • A symbol is something tangible (physical) that represents something intangible
      • In other words... A symbol is something physical that can represent an abstract idea
    • Glue this page into your notebook and create a symbol to represent you!
  • Casting
    • Everybody will read at least one part. List the four parts you would most like to play.
    • If you were gone today, you will be assigned a part!
  • Work Time
    • Finish "Dickens' London" worksheet (due by the start of class tomorrow!)
