Objectives: Today I will discuss realistic fiction and expectations for our writers' workshop.

Homework: Turn in your readers' workshop book(s) by Wednesday!

Agenda: 

• To the library!
  • Part of being a good writer is reading (and reading a lot!)
  • Let's go to the library to find an independent reading book that you like!
• What is Realistic Fiction?
  • Discuss these questions with your table groups. Be prepared to share!
    • What is realistic fiction?
    • What texts from this genre have you read?

• Writers' Workshop Expectations
  • Most days of our Writers' Workshop will follow this format:
  1. Mini-Lesson
  2. Practice Activity
  3. Realistic Fiction Writing Time
  • How do you think your writing time should be spent? What should that time look and sound like?
  • Write down your ideas on a note card and be prepared to share your most important expectation!
